Well-known institutions, such as the Goethe-Institut and Deutsche Welle, offer a broad range of German language-learning programmes. Some can be used directly online from your computer, others are available as apps which can be downloaded onto a smartphone.
Regardless of whether you prefer reading texts, listening to audio clips or watching videos, Deutsche Welle offers a wide variety of media. Among other things, you’ll find tips for beginners, vocabulary training for on-the-go and a German language training programme with ten lessons. Language courses are available in two languages, German and English. Information about German courses is provided in other languages as well, such as Arabic, Dari and Pashto.
The Alumniportal offers free German language training sessions. However, the courses are not suited to absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of German. All services and training sessions are offered in German only.
