Do you want to get an approval from a german University?

Well there are some really important steps that you need to follow.

uni-assist

Uni Assist is an organisation that helps you with providing an approval from the university you want to study in. The most of the universities are connected with the uni-assist. Therefore, you would probably deal with this organisation in order to get a chair in the faculty you want. In this Blog I am going to tell you the most essential information about this organisation and how to deal with it.

  • The first thing you need to know about dealing with this oraganisation is that it is a paid kind of one. Each student must pay for every university they choose. E.g. you want to study medicine or architecture, you are not sure if you can get an approval from the university easily, so you choose 20 universities, which you are going to send your papers to and wait for an answer from each one of them, either with an approval or a rejection. For the first university you must pay 75€ and 15€ for each university from the 19 universities left.
  • In order to send your documents through uni-assist, you must make an account at first by filling your information encluding your adress, email and telephone number. After the uni-assist approves all your data, they will send you an approval of your account with your username and password within 48 hours. You can put the username and the password you wish for.
  • Before uploading your files, you need to choose the universities you wish to get an approval from with the faculty you wish to study in. Each university has its own contract that you would need to fulllfiill within the steps which are going to appear to you automatically. After fullfilling your data for the first time, you would be able to upload the files you want to. As you upload your documents, they will be automatically saved, therefore you would only need to check them the next time without uploading them again.
  • After uploading your files, uni-assist will be able to check all the data you have uploaded and study it.
  • You need to print all of your documents that you have uploaded including a photo of your passport and all the papers you have fullfilled online.
  • After you print all of those papers you must transfer the money to the bank account of the uni-assist.
  • As the last step you must go to a post office and send all of these papers attached with the check of the money transfer to the post adress of the uni-assist in Berlin.
  • If you don’t send the post, your file won’t be studied.

Those were all the steps you need to take in order to deal with uni-assist and have an approval from a university through them. Not all the universities deal with this organisation, most of them though. Some universities just require from you to fullfill your data in their official website.

Wishing you only all the best to come.

Hi, I understand the process, but it looks like it will take a very long time before my documents reach you, and it might take longer time before you respond back to me. The post office thing looks like it’ll slow the process. Also is it certain that I’ll get at least one admission from the universities I applied for?

Comment by Abdullahi Chikaire created 08/11/2018 - 10:57

      Hi Abdullahi,
normally the post office is working fine and there is going to be no risk, because you already sent the documents also online. It is not certain, that you get at least one admission. The admission is depending on your result and application.

Hi.. I would like to ask if there was something wrong with the website.. As everytime I log in, it declines my password and I have to reset it everytime so that I could use the link on my email to enable my access to my application.
Furthermore, when I log out and use the latest updated password it gives me a note saying that there was an error in the email or password then it says something about whether I am using the old website and for new applications, I would have to register again using the new website. and old websites can only be used for old applications. Can someone verify that and send me the new website or clear thing up better for me..

      Hi,
there are no postgraduate courses for Medicine in Germany because Medicine is not split into bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Medical students in Germany have to complete a six-year programme which concludes with the State Examination (Staatsexamen). There are no courses offered in English, so you will need very good German skills to complete the programme and pass the examinations. Courses on Medicine you can find in our database https://www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-studies/find-programme-and-university/.

      Hi,
each German university is responsible for determining its own admission policies. That’s why you should ask the International Office at the German university of your choice whether you fulfill all the requirements for admission and how much of your previous academic work will be recognised. You will find a list of universities and courses in our database https://www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-studies/find-programme-and-university/

    Hi,

I am an Indian and I am planning to change my name officially. So in the future all my educational certtificates will contain my old name and passport and other identification documents will contain new name (Changing name in the educational certificates is hardly possible in India). I m planning to do my Masters in Germany soon. Will this name difference in educational certificates and identification document cause any issues during my application?

    Thanks

      Hi Aditya,
unfortunately we are unable to make a statement on that, but it should be enough, if you are having a official authenticated document which is clearly stating that you changed your name. But it is better to ask directly the Institution for the recognition of degrees, Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen (ZAB) im Sekretariat der Kultusministerkonferenz (The Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany)

Comment by Aziz Tayeb created 08/05/2019 - 21:07

      Hi Aziz,
Firstly you must check with your chosen university as to which form of authentication they accept. An official authentication (“amtliche Beglaubigung”) is often sufficient. ‘Official’ means that a public authority or the institution that originally issued the certificate confirms that copies of documents correspond to the originals. Some universities, however, request a ‘public’ authentication (“öffentliche Beglaubigung”). This means that the German Embassy, a German consulate or a notary in Germany has to carry out the authentication. Please check with your chosen university in Germany as to which form of authentication they accept!

Comment by Ruchita Sharma created 16/05/2019 - 10:28

      Hi Ruchita,

normally the university would state if you need to apply through uni-assist for your study programme. In your case the best way is to ask kindly at the university, why they weren’t able to understand your course details – maybe they needed a translation or something.

      Hi Ashley,
for most degree programmes, knowledge of German (usually B2 level) is a prerequisite for admission to German university. However, you don’t need to know German if you intend on enrolling in an international degree programme.
