Do you want to get an approval from a german University?

Well there are some really important steps that you need to follow.

uni-assist

Uni Assist is an organisation that helps you with providing an approval from the university you want to study in. The most of the universities are connected with the uni-assist. Therefore, you would probably deal with this oragnisation in order to get a chair in the faculty you want. In this Blog I am going to tell you the most essential information about this organisation and how to deal with it.

  • The first thing you need to know about dealing with this oraganisation is that it is a paid kind of one. Each student must pay for every university they choose. E.g. you want to study medicine or architecture, you are not sure if you can get an approval from the university easily, so you choose 20 universities, which you are going to send your papers to and wait for an answer from each one of them, either with an approval or a rejection. For the first university you must pay 75€ and 15€ for each university from the 19 universities left.
  • In order to send your documents through uni-assist, you must make an account at first by filling your information encluding your adress, email and telephone number. After the uni-assist approves all your data, they will send you an approval of your account with your username and password within 48 hours. You can put the username and the password you wish for.
  • Before uploading your files, you need to choose the universities you wish to get an approval from with the faculty you wish to study in. Each university has its own contract that you would need to fulllfiill within the steps which are going to appear to you automatically. After fullfilling your data for the first time, you would be able to upload the files you want to. As you upload your documents, they will be automatically saved, therefore you would only need to check them the next time without uploading them again.
  • After uploading your files, uni-assist will be able to check all the data you have uploaded and study it.
  • You need to print all of your documents that you have uploaded including a photo of your passport and all the papers you have fullfilled online.
  • After you print all of those papers you must transfer the money to the bank account of the uni-assist.
  • As the last step you must go to a post office and send all of these papers attached with the check of the money transfer to the post adress of the uni-assist in Berlin.
  • If you don’t send the post, your file won’t be studied.

Those were all the steps you need to take in order to deal with uni-assist and have an approval from a university through them. Not all the universities deal with this organisation, most of them though. Some universities just require from you to fullfill your data in their official website.

Wishing you only all the best to come.

    Hello.

I have a very simple, but necessary question. When I am on the uni-assist application, in certain sections the application asks to fill “in the original language and Latin script”. In my language (Azerbaijani) we use Latin scripts and letters “Ə, Ö” etc. However, when I put the original names in this way, after saving it turns into question marks.

Should I type original names in only English letters?

    Thanks

each German university is responsible for determining its own admission policies. Try to avoid Uni ‘assist’ if you can, if you want to get into a university in Germany then try getting into a University which doesn’t require Uni ‘assist’ or just study in your country before moving.

Uni assist will do everything in their power to take your money and leave you waiting.

The first time I applied in Germany in 2016 they took almost until the deadline to respond to my application, then they told me I was missing an important document that wasn’t listed anywhere online. By this point it was too late to get the document though and I missed the deadline.

I tried again this year and this time I had the document. So I applied again, I pay my 75 euros again. Then I asked them how long they will take to process me. They told me 4-6 weeks. After 7+ weeks they finally respond to my application and it was only to tell me that ‘unfortunately the rules for people with my qualification have now changed and I would need to study in the UK successfully for one year before I can apply in Germany’.

I asked them why this information for people with my qualification is not public (because I made sure this time to check everywhere for any new information before I applied) they said they can’t do anything to help me. They certainly can’t give me a refund. They will only hide their responsibility behind the ZAB and rules that put it out of their hands. Their ‘service’ lacks transparency and any sort of professionalism. You will come out feeling abused and depressed that you had to deal with people who have no interest in helping you. When you only wanted a fair chance to study in Germany.

    Comment by Joe created 11/07/2018 - 10:06

      Hi Joe,

we are very sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the uni-assist service. We would like to take a chance to comment your experience and to also give a greater insight into our work and our ethics.

With more than 180 German partner universities, uni-assist processes approximately 300,000 student applications from over 180 countries and regions worldwide every year. We hereby gladly support our member universities and prospective students offering our unique expertise in the evaluation of foreign educational attainments and our supplementary services. As a non for profit organization, it is our core interest to facilitate international admission and therefor to also process applications in a timely fashion and with the greatest care and accuracy.

We consider the processing time of international applications as crucial for all parties involved. Presently it is at times inevitably and regrettably also, that the processing time can take up to eight weeks. This especially concerns the central application deadline for the winter semester round about July 15th. Precautionally, we therefore recommend to hand in applications at least 8 weeks before the deadline expires.

Saying that, we are continuously working towards further simplifying the application process as well as increasing its transparency. Your suggestions help us in doing so.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact form on our website, if you should have further questions or comments. We gladly support your way.

      Kind regards
      your uni-assist team

I was very glad when I saw the call for applications for scholarship in Germany and I new my poverty is going to end, however as I was continuing to collect the documents that are needed for the application, I got stuck in the process of applying because the Uni-assist org is requesting from me a poor Ugandan to pay application fee of 75 Euro for the first university and 15 Euro for each of the remaining 19 universities if at all I am to apply for all. This money is so high for me. I wish it was only 15 Euro I would do my best to look for and apply for 2 universities that I had sited and filled in my application. How can I be helped I need to study.

      Hi Shivanshu,
You can find general requirements on our Website (https://www.study-in.de/en/ ). For specific admission requirements pertaining to your course of study, you should refer to the degree programme’s website. To find degree programmes suited to you, you can also check out our database: https://www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-studies/find-programme-and-university/

The tuition fees at German universities are very low, and some universities charge no tuition fees at all. Most German universities are funded by the government. Normally students in bachelor’s programmes don’t have to pay tuition fees. Low tuition fees are charged, however, for master’s degree programmes. All students have to pay a semester contribution. For more information, see the section on money and costs: https://www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-stay/money-and-costs/

German as a language is not necessarily needed to study in Germany. You can find programmes with English as the course language in the DAAD-database: http://www.daad.de/international-programmes
