Visiting the TV Tower in Stuttgart (Fernsehturm Stuttgart)

This week I went up the TV tower in Stuttgart. It stands at an impressive 217m tall and is taller than the Statue of Liberty and Big Ben. In February 1956 the TV tower came into operation after a construction period of just 20 months.

It has two observation platforms; 150 and 153 metres above ground level, and offer the best views over Stuttgart and the surrounding area. When the weather is good, you can see as far as the Swabian Alb, Black Forest, and the Odenwald.

Also, the Panorama Café is at a height of 147 metres where you can enjoy spectacular views whilst sipping on a nice cool beer or a cup of tea. During the day it serves coffee and cakes, and snacks. In the evening it is transformed into an elegant bar with subtle lighting, a lounge ambience, and cocktails. It even has a shop where you can buy souvenirs from your time spent at the Fernsehturm.
The tower is open daily.
