I think what drew me most to this city was its university, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. My friends and I took a train to Karlsruhe so we could watch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in IMAX. The movie didn’t turn out to be particularly enjoyable but the city was in all ways. Every German city I have been to so far is different and has something special and unique to itself.
Our movie began around 11pm, so we took an evening train into the city, our train leaving the city was scheduled to leave around 4am the next morning.
So after the movie, we still had a bit of the night to spend in Karlsruhe. Being a university lover, I couldn’t leave without visiting KIT, so my friends and I, with our other friend, Google Maps, navigated our way to the university. By the time we arrived at the gates, we were running out of time, and had to make it back to the train station. But I was instantly drawn to it – because it looked way too familiar to my undergraduate school. Even though I love it here, and have perfectly adjusted to life here, something with a home feel still has the magic to draw me to it.
We just had to come back. So the next time we came, we took an afternoon train and arrived in the city in broad daylight. In a matter of 8 hours or so, we crossed off the Karlsruhe Zoo, Karlsruhe Palace, and KIT. And I enjoyed every one of them. We spent the most time in the zoo. It felt more like a very large and nicely planned and built park with a few animals here and there. The museum in the palace was breathtaking and beautiful – it had some amazing pieces on exhibition. KIT turned out to be exactly what I imagined it to be. A Gorgeous day💜
